Ann continues to allow people to share their love for horses and ponies.
Growing up I always loved horses. I doodled them, read books and saw movies ,.i.e., Thunderhead, My Friend Flicka, etc and saved my allowance to ride Powder Puff, an Indian Pinto. Reading Anne's wonderful book of poignant, true stories about horses, helped me to understand that horses are not animals to be led around, but animals who love us unconditionally!!
Ann Jamieson has written another winner. Volume II of For the Love of the Horse is a continuation of the excellent stories about horses, riders and other varmints. Again, whether you are a rider, love horses, or just love good writing, this book will educate, entertain and enlighten the reader and he or she will be thoroughly glad to have picked it up. Ann's experience as a horse-owner and a judge of hunter/jumpers adds valuable insight into the relationship between man/woman and horse. Her books are sure to remain favorites through the years.

I've known the author personally for many years so I speak with some authority. Ann Jamieson is an accomplished horsewoman and hunter judge who knows horses, horse-people, and how to tell their stories. Ann is an excellent writer who captures the spirit of each horse and horseperson. You'll be turning the pages so fast that you'll be surprised at how much you enjoyed this second volume and can't wait to read the third volume. Whether you ride English or Western, ride the trails for pleasure or for endurance, like ponies or draft horses, think an outing on a carriage ride is the best thing or prefer sitting on a sulky in a big race, new to horses or an old timer, you'll find a story in Ann's books to touch your heart and relate to.
Every horseperson has a horse story to tell about some special horse or pony in their lives or the life of a family member or friend that's made all the positive difference for him or her. Of all the types of horse literature out there, I think story anthologies are the best. Interesting and heart-warming stories about real horses and real people have a special place on our bookshelves, and Ann Jamieson's "For the Love of the Horse" series is right at the front of mine!
Jamieson took each story and told it in a way that brings back memories to anyone whose life has involved horses. I especially loved the story of brave Aragon, who went through hell and back to become a show winner and prove that the love for a horse can work miracles. Another favorite was "You Know You're Horse Crazy..." Horse lovers everywhere will identify with this chapter!
I highly recommend this series of important insights into our love affair with horses.
Stories didn't go in much depth but a nice "feel good" book.
